Cockermouth Gets Back Down to Business

Prince Charles Visits CockermouthAs one of the first businesses to get back up and running after the devastating floods in November 2009' we are very excited to announce the reopening of the Jennings Brewery Shop & Tours. As from Monday 12th April we will welcome visitors back to the brewery. We have also introduced a tea room where visitors can enjoy a light lunch before or after the tour.

We are also very excited about the town getting back up and running. A number of our customers are well on the way to being ready to open their doors and pull their first pint of Jennings. Last week we saw Prince Charles visit Cockermouth following his initial visit shortly after the floods. He was very encouraging and the Jennings staff thoroughly enjoyed meeting him.

One of the main problems facing the local people after the floods was the closure of the many bridges which we take for granted and use everyday to get around the County. The Jennings dray wagons found it very difficult but never the less they never failed to get beer to our customers. One customer in particular was amazed to find his beer order arrived on time yet Royal Mail couldn’t get into the village.

Saturday 1st May will see the first major event take place in Cockermouth after the floods. The local people will don their outfits and come out onto the streets to celebrate The Georgian Fair. Many of our customers will be serving drinks and food to cater for the many thousands of people who will come to Cockermouth for this special event. Jennings are joining in the fun and putting on ½ price tours along with a B-B-Q in the brewery yard. We will also host a number of Georgian games for the children to enjoy
