The first of 'The Heritage collection'. In 1874, Jennings moved its brewery from Lorton to Cockermouth. For 46 years before that, something remarkable happened in the little fell-side village. While Burton’s IPAs conquered the corners of Empire, Lorton’s soft Lakeland water was creating something incredible closer to home. Stronger, darker, sweeter, these ales were adored by all lucky enough to find them. This revival of the classic Lorton imperial ale is inspired by archive letters and recipes, but brewed with modern malts and hops. The result: a rich, mahogany brew with aromas of Seville marmalade, Christmas spices and a real treacle depth, balanced by hints of spice from the hops. We don’t brew at Lorton any more, but the alchemies that happened there live on in this bottle. £1 from every bottle will be donated to The Yew Tree Hall, Lorton, supporting local projects and giving back to Jennings’ historic community. 750ml
