You’ve known us for our ales for, well… almost 200 years. Traditional, dependable, and rooted in Cockermouth. But every now and then, we like to surprise you - and this time, we’ve gone and brewed something we’ve never done before.
Say hello to our brand-new core range lager: a natural, unfiltered Helles that’s gluten free, vegan friendly, crisp, refreshing, and unapologetically delicious.
And the best bit? It’s ready to pour this weekend (27th & 28th September 2025) in our taproom and beyond.
Why a lager, you ask? Well, why not?
We’ve been sat on 197 years of brewing know-how, and it’s about time we turned our hands to something a little different. While our ales will always be the beating heart of what we do, this Helles lets us raise a glass to another brewing tradition — one that pairs perfectly with the changing seasons and, of course, Oktoberfest.

Jennings has never brewed a lager before, but the style would have been popular among German immigrants of the 15th and 16th centuries who came to The Lake District and worked in the copper and zinc mines.
Chris France, our Managing Director said "Those miners had a far bigger impact on the development of the Cumberland sausage than they did on our beer culture, but it’s a new team at Jennings now and we’re keen to show that while we continue to make amazing traditional ales, we can do new things too. Jennings Helles and Cumberland sausage is a great combo!”
